During recent years, in particular since 9/11, security requirements have increased on a very large scale. Following the USA, also Canada and Mexico have introduced security initiatives. But not only security aspects, also the necessity to protect consumers against product plagiarism as well as products which are posing a risk to health and last but not least the aim to expedite customes clearance in order to relieve the ports, have led the European Commission to implementing a new customs regulation (1875/2006), which entails following projects:
